Our Practice

Our Story

Prime Therapy Inc. was established in 1998 by Sabra Argaza with the goal to create a Pediatric Physical Therapy environment that was safe, compassionate, and nurturing. She has devoted her time to provide accessible and affordable services to all children. Her passion has been to integrate evidence-based interventions within a nurturing, family-centered environment.

At Prime Therapy, we see a diverse pediatric patient caseload.
Here are some of the most common diagnoses we assess:

Torticollis

Torticollis is classified as a muscular restriction in the neck and shoulder causing a baby to hold their head in certain positions and can lead to plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome) . We address torticollis by treating muscle tightness, underlying fascial restrictions, and weakness. We work with families to teach them how to position their babies as well as giving ideas for play.

Abnormal gait

Abnormal gait can be caused by pain, toe walking (equinovarus gait), or physical deformity of the hip, knee, ankle, or feet. We work to identify the underlying factors and causes of abnormal gait and create a multi-dimensional plan of care to address this condition.

Pediatric Pelvic Floor Therapy

Pelvic Floor Therapy addresses urinary and bowel disorder concerns in children and can help guide healthy potty training techniques. Symptoms include bedwetting, constipation or smears, difficulty with urine or bladder control, and inability to sense urge. We assess these deficits through education, tracking symptoms and related factors, visual assessment (no internal assessment), biofeedback, exercises, and neuromuscular re-education.

Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of disorders that affect a person’s ability to move and maintain balance and posture. CP is the most common motor disability in childhood. Cerebral means having to do with the brain. Palsy means weakness or problems with using the muscles. We are able to assist children with cerebral palsy by addressing functional mobility, balance, gross motor skills, muscle tightness and weakness, as well as assess for equipment and orthotic needs.

Developmental Delay

Developmental delay is a general diagnosis that covers any delay in gross motor development. A physical therapist can assess a child’s strength, range of motion, coordination, and movement patterns in order to create a plan of care to assist children reach their gross motor milestones.

Hypotonia

Hypotonia is a diagnosis presenting with low muscle tone. It can be congenital or indicative of other diagnoses to include Down syndrome, muscular dystrophy, Prader- Willi syndrome, myotonic dystrophy, Marfan syndrome, Tay-Sach’s and cerebral palsy. We are able to address hypotonia through strengthening, orthotic intervention, and home exercises.

Plagiocephaly

Plagiocephaly (sometimes called deformational plagiocephaly or positional plagiocephaly) is a very common, very treatable disorder. It causes a baby’s head to have a flattened appearance. Plagiocephaly develops when an infant’s soft skull becomes flattened in one area, due to repeated pressure on one part of the head. Treatment is most effective when completed before 12 months of age and can begin as soon as the flat spot is noticed.
